I went down to KAUS on Monday morning in the hopes of catching the last of the F1 traffic. Not a whole lot to see, but there was increased GA traffic, and a beautiful visitor from Switzerland. For many of these shots, I experimented with slow shutter speeds in an effort to get the plane focused but the background blurry. I was modestly successful. Any suggestions on this technique would be appreciated. I think I may have to go with a monopod next time.

Boeing 737-81Q. Miami Air Int’l is a charter company I’ve not seen at AUS before. There were two MAI 737s. This one is being towed to the terminal.

Bombardier BD-100. Note the registration similarity between this and the previous Cessna. ATC called both aircraft and told them to note the similarity to avoid confusion.

This Atlas Air Boeing 747-47UF was a lucky catch. I had left the airport to go home, and happened to see this on final as I was driving. So I quickly pulled over and jumped out to photograph it. I wonder if it was shuttling between Austin and Mexico City.

OH MY GOSH IT’S SO ADORABLE! It looks like a mini CRJ!

Is it wrong that I think Canadair/Bombardier planes look pretty attractive?

Also, back in June I saw what was likely a DC-10 variant flying into MKE. Pretty much the entire plane was white, but the tail was a reddish-purple with a flower-like insignia/logo (like a classy version of the Walmart logo) on the tail.

To this day I haven’t figured out what livery that plane was wearing.

Most likely an MD-11, but I can’t nail down the livery for sure. Varig is my best guess.

Huh, the BT-67 seems to be popular with Arctic/Antarctic operators. There’s also a gunship version in service with the Fuerza Aérea Salvadoreña and the Fuerza Aérea Colombiana.

Those will soon be 100-year airframes. Amazing.

Some of these, most really, are quite good. Well done.

Thanks. Aviation photography is my big hobby, and I’d like to think that I’m getting better at it. I’m trying to experiment with different crops and other things, rather than just a picture of an airplane. Now I need to figure out how to really use Lightroom.

Sure, jets are sexy...but I love the Meridian and the DC-3.

Yes...I get that they’re jets, too...
